Act 1 SONGS only + PoNR and Final Lair. Taper says: "Missing Hannibal. Some asinine woman's cell phone from the row in front of me goes off during the Final Lair." 1 CDs (B+) Phantom of the Opera - Spain - 2003/2004, Juan Carlos Barona, Julia Möller, Armando Pita Rare Soundboard Recording 2CD its rated as an A+ Phantom of the Opera - London - January 5th 2002 John Owen-Jones, Deborah Dutcher, Matt Cammelle Excellent quality audio. sensational performance, the three leads are all incredible. 2CD A+ Phantom of the Opera - London - June 18th 2004 John Owen-Jones, Nicky Adams and Ramin Karimloo listened to this briefly, MY God, the final lair has to be one of the most emotional I've heard in a long time ! 2CD WMA format London-February 18, 2003 Phantom: John Owen-Jones Christine: Celia Graham Raoul: Mathew Cammelle Carlotta: Nan Christie Andre: Robert Irons Firmin: Richard Hazell Mme. Giry: Josie Benson Piangi: Jeremy Secombe Meg Giry: Hayley Driscoll Quality: A (Almost A+, some minor vocal drowning-out) JOJ, Katie Adams, Ramin Karimloo. (London 2-28-04) I'm pretty sure Ramin played Raoul for this show. [A] Phantom of the Opera - Orlando, FL. - January 11th 2004 Brad Little, Rebecca Pitcher, Tim Martin Gleason, Little's final performance, so one can guess that it's very emotional. Little's voice isn't my favourite, but great final performance with a lot of emotion Pitcher also not my favourite Christine, but good nonetheless. Gleason as Raoul was good as always Little flubs his "Christine I love You" line because he is crying, very moving. 2CD A Phantom of the Opera - L.A. - November 18th 2003 Brad Little, Lisa Vroman, Tim Martin Gleason, 2CD A Phantom of the Opera - Cincinnati, OH 3rdNT - Dec 18th 2005 . Gary Mauer, Elizabeth Southard (alt), John Cudia, David Cryer, DC Anderson, Kim Stengel, Rebecca Judd (u/s), John Whitney, Kristi Patricia (u/s)1st gen (from DM). Recorded from the 5th or 6th row back, stage left. Complete show from pre-show announcements to right before curtain calls at the end. Great quality, far and away the best Phantom audio I've ever heard - you can hear everything - the elephant being rolled across the stage during Hannibal, paper rustling in Notes, every breath Beth takes in Think of Me and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Beth's gasp when Meg touches her shoulder during Angel of Music, Meg's "rehearsals, always rehearsals," the ballet rats chattering during Magical Lasso, Gary's little "oh!" gasp at the end when he realizes that Beth has returned (to give back the ring), and the sheet being pulled away from the throne at the end just to name a few. Two small flubs - the gun doesn't fire during Seal My Fate (it makes a little popping sound you can hear on the recording) so John makes a quick save by telling the marksman he should have fired; also, John forgot his "but why?" when Madame Giry was explaining about the punjab lasso. The cast was incredible that night. One of the last audios of David Cryer on tour as Firmin - he's leaving for Broadway some time in January. 2CD (A+) Phantom of the Opera - Cincinnati, OH 3rdNT - Dec 18th 2005 Gary Mauer, Elizabeth Southard (alt), John Cudia, David Cryer, DC Anderson, Kim Stengel, Rebecca Judd (u/s), John Whitney, Kristi Patricia (u/s)1st gen (from DM). Gary Mauer and Elizabeth Southard's LAST show with the tour Mauer gets very emotional during MOTN, and Southard does the same in Wishing. Final for Mauer, Southard and Jellison 2CD A The Phantom of the Opera - Australia 1990 Anthony Warlow (Phantom), Marina Prior (Christine), Dale Burridge (Raoul), Christa Leahmann (Carlotta), Jon Ewing (Andre), John O'May (Firmin), Christopher Dawes (Piangi), Geraldine Morrow (Mme. Giry), Sharron Millerchip (Meg Giry) Anthony is up among my top Phantoms. Expressive voice 2 CD A Phantom of the Opera - London - May 13th 2004 Earl Carpenter (SB), Robyn North (u/s), Tom Solomon (u/s), Richard Hazell, Sam Hiller, Judith Gardner Jones, Heather Jackson, Jim Heath, Heidi Ann O’Brien. One of the only and definitely the best quality audio with all three London standbys/understudies. Was a little on the quiet side but crystal clear with no overload anywhere. I've managed to bring out the voices so that it's not so quiet now. The best performance by Carpenter I’ve heard: he doesn’t struggle at all and North just gets better and better, especially her vocal quality, Solomon is a great understudy as well. 2CD (A-) London- Dec. 21, 2005 (Phantom): Earl Carpenter (Christine): Celia Graham (Raoul): David Shannon (Carlotta): Wendy Ferguson (Andre): Sam Hiller (Firmin): James Barron (Mme Giry): Annette Yeo (Piangi): Rohan Tickell (Meg Giry): Naomi Cobby Quality: A+ Phantom of the Opera - San Francisco - Jan 3rd 1999 Franc D'Ambrosio, Lisa Vroman, Christopher Carl, Michael Lackey, Richard Gould, Patricia Hurd, Rebecca Judd, Gualtiero Negrini, Jennifer Gould There are NO 3-SECOND PAUSES. Closing Night of the San Francisco production. Includes closing speeches from principals. Analogue hiss & some skipping during the Prologue and Prima Donna track. Very enthusiastic audience, numbers like MOTN bring the house down. And D’Ambrosio and Vroman, WOW what a pair. Vroman is a wonderful Christine. Franc D’Ambrosio is brilliant, he has a unique voice that has an unearthly “echoey” quality to it. His “Say you’ll share with me…” is superb. 2CD B+ Phantom of the Opera - September 27th 1996 - Sydney Rob Guest, Danielle Everett, John Bowles Last show in Sydney WMA format Phantom of the Opera - Providence, RI - March 16th 2006 Jason Mills, (u/s) Marie Danvers, Jim Weitzer, Kim Stengel, Stephen Tewksbury (Piangi u/s), D.C. Anderson, John Jellison, Patti Davidson-Gorbea, Kate Wray 1st Generation - Jason Mills' FIRST performance as the Phantom, and a great first performance it is. Recorded from the third row, and unfortunately features a tone-deaf fan humming along with one (short) part of the Overture. Missing the Entr'acte, and features some disruption in Point of No Return just after Marie removes Jason's mask, due to the person to my right crawling over me and running out of the theatre. Some hiss due to being recorded on .mp3 recorder, but a unique recording of a Phantom's FIRST performance. 2 CDs (B) Phantom of the Opera- Las Vegas - 7.2.06 - Anthony Crivello, Elisabeth Loycano. Ana's pronunciation is a little odd sometimes. John is unimpressive though. Essen - 4 December 2005 (2CD, A) Phantom - Christian Müller (u/s), Christine - Sandra Danyella, Raoul - Nikolaj Alexander Brucker A good quality audio, with some minor electronic crackles occasionally. Christian is excellent, with a wonderfully smooth and powerful voice to match. Performed in German. Brazil - 28 July 2005 (2CD, A-) Phantom - Saulo Vasconcelos, Christine - Kiara Sasso, Raoul - Nando Prado, Carlotta - Edna D'Oliveira, Mme Giry - Paula Capovilla, Meg - Carolina Puntel Performed in Portugese. Saulo's Phantom is one of my favourites, and Kiara sounds lovely ?????????????????????? Austin - 3NT - Feb. 8, 2004 Gary Mauer, Sarah Lawrence (u/s), Tim Martin Gleason, David Cryer, DC Anderson, Patty Goble (u/s), Patti Davidson-Gorbea, Jimmy Smagula, Kate Wray. Nice digital audio, though some overloading at points and a little hiss. Lawrence is good understudy; Mauer isn't as good here as he is later in his run. 2CD (A-) London – 30th September 2004 - 7:30 PM John Owen-Jones, Katie Knight-Adams (alt), Oliver Thornton, Richard Hazell, Sam Hiller, Sally Harrison, Heather Jackson, Rohan Tickell, Claire Tilling. Nice audio, though a little fuzzy at times. Better performance than the 4th September for JOJ, he sings the hell out of MOTN. 2CD (A) London - 16th August 2005 Matthew Cammelle (SB), Rachel Barrell, Oliver Thornton, Richard Hazell, Sam Hiller, Sally Harrison, Rohan Tickell, Emma Edwards (u/s), Heidi Ann O’Brien. Nice audio, from the pre-show announcement to the exit music. Matt's a good Phantom, with the kind of deep, powerful voice that suits the role, though his diction is a little odd. Rachel Barrell is a great Christine, as ever, and Thornton tries hard but it's very good. 2CD (A) Stuttgart, April 4, 2004 Ian Jon Bourg, Kristin Hölck (alt), Carsten Lepper, Petra Koschatzki, Marko Woytowicz, Ernst van Looy, Gabrielle Ramm, Brian Bowley, Katie Wood (WMA format) | | 11:08a |
Phantom of the Opera (DVD) Performance from one of the Madrid shows, with Juan Carlos Barona and Julia Moller (2003) (I should note on this one that there are click noises throughout the video, I think from the camera person moving the camera on a tripod. I wish it wasn't there, but it's not the worst thing. It does not overpower the audio. The video is really good quality, full performance). PAL format Phantom of the Opera - Madrid Spain - 2002 Luis Amando, Felicidad Farag, Armando Pita, David Venacio Murio, Enrique R del Portal, Teresa Castal, Ana Argemi, Carlos Fernández (u/s), Evangelina Esteves Beautiful PRO-SHOT video of this production. Picture and sound are perfect, run in from the soundboard and so unfortunately Phantom’s voiceovers, which cannot be heard unless you turn the volume all the way up and then it’s barely audible. A few seconds of MOTN, the Rooftop, and Don Juan missing. A wonderful and unique production of Phantom. First, the chandelier is pretty much free falling. Second, both Carlotta and Piangi are *thin* (Piangi also doesn’t hit his high note during Hannibal). Third, Luis walks right into the boat during the end of the Title Song (although I must say he covered admirably). Luis…has a great voice, but his movements are somewhat feminine and not nearly grand enough. The scenes he has alone (the Angel) are much better. Felicidad is a wonderful actress for Christine, she really gets across her childish nature, especially when trying to pull off his mask. She has a tendency to go sharp on her sustained notes, though, and I somewhat loathed the way she left the Phantom at the end. Pita as Raoul is very easy on the eyes. PAL DVD (A+)A John Cudia, Sarah Lawrence, and Jim Weitzer performance in Kalamazoo, Michigan (May 6, 2006) Good quality audio and video, steady hand. Act 1 starts after Carlotta sings the intro in Hannable. The camera has trouble finding things a time or two, but once it's found, it's pretty steady. Act 2 starts with Christine and Raoul singing about the engagement. DVD Phantom of the Opera: July 1, 2006 (evening) - St. Louis, MO John Cudia, Jennifer Hope Wills, Adam Monley, Kimilee Bryant (u/s Carlotta - final), Bruce Winant (Firmin), DC Anderson (Andre), Patti Davidson-Gorbea (Mme. Giry), John Whitney (Piangi), Kate Wray (Meg) Closing night in St. Louis. The first video to be released of Jennifer Hope Wills as Christine and she's stunning. This was only her third performance with the tour but you'd never know that with the chemistry she has with John. This is also Kimilee's final show with the tour - she was a decent Carlotta although really lacked the over-the-top quality. Shot from the rear orchestra so there is a head in the way when the action takes place on the far left of the stage (fortunately my friend was most kind about letting me lean across her to get a good shot). My light settings messed up in the second act so that act is more washed out and pixelated than I would have liked, but that's relatively minor. The first act does not start until the new managers talk about Meg Giry in the Hannibal scene, the second act starts towards the beginning of Masquerade but I didn't film steadily until Red Death appears. Audio only for Magical Lasso. Curtain calls were taped. John only gets better and really makes the role his own - the video I taped in Kalamazoo does him NO justice. Phantom of the Opera - London - February 26th 2005 - Evening John Owen-Jones (final), Rachel Barrell, Oliver Thornton, Richard Hazell, Sam Hiller, Sally Harrison, Heather Jackson, Rohan Tickell, Claire Tilling One of the best videos out there, shot from third row orchestra and therefore has incredible close-ups, looks like a lap shot. Some heads as a result but they almost never get in the way. No video during Overture or first half of Title Song. Hard to see the Phantom during the Reprise because of the angle, and first act ends before the chandelier falls. JOJ is on fire obviously, especially his Final Lair (though I’ll never like his hand movements). The most interesting person in the cast in my opinion, though, is Rohan. Incredible voice and presence and looks like his Phantom would be quite wonderful. Much better ensemble performance in general than 10/15/04, especially from Rachel who seems much more comfortable on stage than before. 2 PAL DVDs A+ Phantom of the Opera, The - London - October 15th 2004 John Owen-Jones, Rachel Barrell, Oliver Thornton, Anthony Cable (u/s Firmin), Sam Hiller (Andre), Emma Edwards (u/s Giry), Rohan Tickell (Piangi) The physical quality of this video is about as good as it gets in the bootleg world. Incredibly clear picture, with many tight zooms that maintain their integrity without pixelation. No tripod was used, so occasional moments of human shakiness are present, but overall remarkable detail, and one notices things in this recording that are generally not even visible to audience members watching the show live. You can read the headlines in the managers' newspapers, count the buttons on Christine's wedding dress, and see the black-on-black geometric pattern of the Phantom's PoNR cloak. The zooms on John are a treat, and register on camera the incredible emotional range of his interpretation, especially during MotN and the Final Lair. In addition, the scenes that one generally expects to be disappointingly dark in most Phantom videos (i.e. the AIAoY reprise and Wandering Child) are very visible and make this video unique from many others. The audio is great throughout, and captures John's fine vocal form that night; 'let your soul take you where you long to be' is stunning. Sound and picture quality aside, however, this was filmed from the very far right side of the dress circle in Her Majesty's, in 'limited view' seats, so there are a few notable obstructions for which the viewer should be prepared. In Act One, the dressing room is partially blocked, and the Phantom is not visible in the mirror when he first appears. In the Lair set, the organ is not visible, and so you can't see John until he begins to walk to center stage after the few bars of MotN. For this same reason, the first unmasking at the organ is also obstructed. In Act two, disappointing blockage of the grand staircase in Masquerade, and Red Death is not visible until just before he falls through the trap door. Also, the table in PoNR is just out of view, and so some of the 'benchwork' can't be seen. Overall, the camera manages to avoid most of the audience heads, but occasionally they can be seen, as can the silhouette of the lighting technician, who was standing to the immediate right of the filmer. ONLINE VIDEO_WMV format. A. Phantom of the Opera - Broadway - October 1st 2005 Hugh Panaro, Sandra Joseph, Tim Martin Gleason Hugh's final performance. One of the best boots out there 1 DVD A+ Phantom of the Opera - Broadway - Aug 9th 2003 Hugh Panaro, Sandra Joseph, John Cudia, Jeff Keller, George Lee Andrews, Patricia Phillips, Marilyn Caskey, Larry Wayne Morbitt, Joelle Gates 1st gen. Complete show including curtain call and pre-show announcement forbidding recording devices of any kind. The taper does an excellent job of shooting around heads in the way. Some wandering here and there when ushers got too close. Other than that, astonishing good video quality and an extremely steady hand, even on close-ups. Definitely the best performance by Joseph I’ve ever seen, the close-ups really do her acting justice. The best performance by Hugh that I’ve seen, he goes absolutely crazy during Final Lair. The rest of the cast is wonderful as well. 2 NTSC DVDs A Phantom of the Opera - The Phantom Follies - 1992 or 1993 - Melbourne, Australia Rob Guest, Marina Prior, Dale Burridge, Maree Johnson, Caroline Ferrie, and more The cast and crew of the Australian production put on skits, parodies, and spoofs for the benefit of charity. Runs over two hours long. Quite funny, especially loved the snarky version of All I Ask of You. Some of the skits/parodies - "Beauty School Dropout," "The Three Raoul Amigos," "A Charade," "I'm Too Sexy," a rock version of Il Muto, a rap/dance version of Think of Me, many more. Ripped from an old tape, has generational issues, a few skips that were in the tape, some color bleeding due to PAL to NTSC conversion, but still quite watchable. The "Midnight at Erik's" segment has a date of 1993, I'm not sure if this was part of the Phantom Follies or if it's from something else and added onto this tape. The Follies seem to be complete, the Midnight at Erik's segment cuts off when Mme. Giry is tangoing with an Erik. "VERY FUNNY SEND UP" 1 DVD B/B+ Phantom of the Opera - Shanghai - March 13th 2005 Brad Little, Marni Raab, Jarrod Carland *Highlights* 1 DVD A The Phantom of the Opera – US Tour Los Angeles 11-18-2003: Brad Little, Marni Raab (alt), Tim Martin Gleason, David Cryer, DC Anderson, Kim Stengel, Patti Davidson-Gorbea, Jimmy Smagula (?), Kate Wray (?); Great sound and picture color. Great closeups. The Phantom of the Opera 3rd National Tour (Los Angeles) - 19 November 2003 Brad Little (Phantom), Lisa Vroman (Christine), Tim Martin Gleason (Raoul), David Cryer (Firmin), DC Anderson (Andre), Kim Stengel (Carlotta), Patti Davidson-Gorbea (Mme Giry), Jimmy Smagula (Piangi), Kate Wray (Meg) Shaky filming, and fair amounts of cover-ups. The colours are quite good. Wide shots are better than the close-ups, which are a little blurry. Occasionally you can hear the tapers talking, and something rubs against the microphone at times. Most of "I Remember" is missing. The only video of Brad and Lisa together, and they have great chemistry; Lisa supposedly had a cold but she still put on a good show. TMG... can't say I care much for him in the role. 1DVD (B) Phantom of the Opera - Atlanta 3NT - 10th September 2005 Gary Mauer, Marie Danvers, Michael Shawn Lewis, David Cryer, DC Anderson, Kim Stengel, John Whitney, Kate Wray 2nd gen. matinee; Taper says: "Begins at Piangi's high note in Hannibal. Better filmed than 8/17 Wicked. Only video thus far of the new touring cast, and it's probably one of the best Phantom casts in a long while. The main trio is incredible." 2 DVD's A+ The Phantom of The Opera - Tour (Dallas) - 4/06/06 - Gary Mauer & Elizabeth Southard's(alt) Final Performance DVD Phantom of the Opera: 2/25/06: Matthew Cammelle, Rachel Barrell, David Shannon. Widescreen 2 PAL DVD (A+) POTO London, June 17, 2006 (evening) Matt Cammelle (SB), Rachel Barrell, David Shannon, James Barron, Sam Hiller, Wendy Ferguson, Annette Yeo, Howard Ellis (u/s), Naomi Cobby (u/s) Phantom of the Opera: Hungary 2003 (AVI format) Phantom of the Opera: 1992. Tokyo (Japan Tour). Jun Sawaki, Kyoko Suzuki, Kanji Ishmaru. COMPLETE version. 2 DVDs. Very poor quality Eiji Akutagawa, Hisako Hanaoka, Kanji Ishimaru Remastered to include chapters and a menu. Includes Eiji’s curtain speech. Incredible quality for its age. No gen loss whatsoever, clear image and sound, lovely close-ups and flawless following of the show. I *love* Eiji's bench scene in PONR--he goes for the gold. He takes sexual frustration beyond any other Phantom I've seen. Thomas Schulze, Marlie Switze, Carsten Lepper Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular 8/30/06 ~ Las Vegas 10pm Show: Brent Barrett as Phantom, Sierra Boggess as Christine, Geena Jeffries Mattox as Carlotta, Tim Martin Gleason, John Wolfe, Lawson Skala, Rebecca Spencer, Brianne Morgan, Larry Morbitt. Wonderful Cast! very nice quality. Starts at end of “Think of Me.” It's a very nice capture! A+ POTO: August 28, 2006 (7 PM) - Las Vegas Anthony Crivello, Elizabeth Loyacano, Tim Martin Gleason, Elena Jeanne Batman, Lawson Skala, John Wolfe, Rebecca Spencer, Larry Wayne Morbitt, Brianne Kelly Morgan 2nd gen from master. Quite shaky with lots of wandering and a blurry picture, facial expressions can rarely be discerned. I just can't see Anthony as Erik, he does some things that are good but for the most part it's a very mediocre performance; the same can be said for Elizabeth. Tim was a shocker, he was a lot more animated in this than he was on the tour or even Broadway. Interesting to see the changes that have been made, although some are really neat I could do without most of them. Missing a few minutes in Notes I with a few random seconds of another musical in its place. 1 NTSC DVD, A- POTO, Essen, Germany 15 July 2006 with Uwe Kroeger as Phantom 2 DVDs POTO Pittsburgh, PA, January 22, 2006 (evening) Gary Mauer, Elisabeth Southard (alt), John Cudia, Kim Stengel, John Kuether (u/s), DC Anderson, Patti Davidson-Gorbea, John Whitney, Kate Wray , Michael Gillis (Joseph Buquet, u/s), Michael McCoy (Auctioneer, Don Attilio, Passarino - u/s) The Phantom of the Opera – US Tour Salt Lake City+ Philadelphia 1999: Ian Jon Bourg/Brad Little, Rebecca Pitcher, Richard Todd Adams, David Cryer, Ian Jon Bourg; highlights video compiling performances of Ian as both the Phantom and M. André (Brad plays the Phantom when Ian is André). Only video of Ian from an American production. 1999 - Philadelphia and Salt Lake City, USA Ian Jon Bourg (u/s)/Brad Little, Rebecca Pitcher, Richard Todd Adams, David Cryer, Ian Jon Bourg About 1 hour and 20 minutes of highlights. Brad Little is the Phantom when Ian is Andre. The footage with Ian as Andre flickers back and forth from color to black and white and the whole video is rather shaky. The sound level from the different locations also varies. Still it's the only video with Ian as Phantom in the American production. Includes Hannibal rehearsal when the managers make their appearance to the transformation during Think of Me (you see Rebecca's arm for about 10 seconds, other than that it's all Ian), most of Think of Me (focused only on the managers' box though - awww Richard, so precious!), the part before Little Lotte when the managers are talking to Raoul, The Mirror right when the Phantom starts singing (Ian is the Phantom), the title song (with Ian as the Phantom) but only the parts Ian sings (BAH) until they're in the boat (then it's the whole thing), Music of the Night (Ian as Phantom), Notes I and Prima Donna (with Ian as Andre), Il Muto (with Ian as Andre) starting at "heart aflame" and focused on the managers' box with some small cuts throughout, All I Ask of You reprise (Ian as Phantom) but ends before the chandelier crash, most of Masquerade (Ian as Andre for the beginning, then Ian as Phantom when Red Death appears), most of Notes II and Twisted Every Way (Ian as Andre), Wandering Child/Bravo Monsieur (Ian as Andre), Point of No Return (Ian as Phantom) until he's demasked, then Down Once More (just the Phantom's parts, Ian as Phantom), and the Final Lair (Ian as Phantom). Includes a brief shot of curtain calls when Ian is Andre and another small segment when Ian was Phantom (I believe). Ian is pretty much a perfect Phantom in my book - very tall with a commanding voice and an even more commanding stage presence, yet capable of great tenderness when the moment's right. He makes a pretty good Andre too, I'd never believe it was the same guy if I didn't know better. You can't get a good feel for either Rebecca or Richard in this since it's so focused on Ian, but I love them both. 1 NTSC DVD, B The Phantom of the Opera Broadway - 10 August 2005 (matinee) Tim Martin Gleason (Phantom u/s), Susan Owen (Christine alt, u/s), Stephen R. Buntrock (Raoul u/s), Jeff Keller (Firmin), George Lee Andrews (Andre), Anne Runolfsson (Carlotta), Marilyn Caskey (Mme Giry), Larry Wayne Morbitt (Piangi), Kara Klein (Meg), James Romick (Don Attilio) Some shakiness due to a moving head in front of the taper. The first minute of Il Muto is missing, nothing life-threatening. Some cover-ups because of ushers. Tim is a good Phantom, I much prefer him here than as Raoul. He plays well opposite Susan, who is usually an understudy but got bumped to alternate for that week. 2DVD (A-) June 6, 2004 - Salt Lake City, UT Tim Martin Gleason (u/s), Sarah Lawrence (u/s), Peter Lockyer (u/s) 1 DVD, Lots of wash out on this DVD. Lots of latecomers as well as ushers hunting down a flash camera in the mezz during Act Two results in about five minutes of cover-ups, including most of the Overture, half of ToM, half a minute of Bravo Monsieur, most of Seal My Fate, and half a (insignificant) minute of PONR. Buntrock is remarkable, incredible acting and an effortless voice. His Final Lair is one of the most unique I've ever seen. The only video of his Phantom. Pitcher is okay, her ToM cadenza is great but her acting is nothing special. Rose is remarkably forgettable, snobby, overbearing, and forgets some lines in Notes, he hadn’t played the role in a long time. 2 NTSC DVDs A- Il Fantasma dell’Opera, Italy Teatro Rossini, Civitanova Marche, Novembre 2004, Giorgio Carli, Alexandra Alisè, Simone Sibillano, Concetta Ascrizzi, Nicola Ciulla, Laura Geraci Making of the Hungarian Phantom of the Opera Runs about 30 minutes. Includes comments from ALW, the production director, the music director, the actors, and just about everybody else involved. Amazing footage of rehearsals, clips of live performances, auditions, and much much more. Subtitled in English by hedge_hog and jstarz927. CD-rom (A+) Midday Show With Derryn Hinch - Australia - July 26 - 1994 In 1994, when Phantom fever was at it's peak, the Midday Show, hosted by Derryn Hinch filmed a special show at the Theatre Royal in Sydney. Stars of the show include Rob Guest as the Phantom, Marie Johnson as Christine, and Peter Cousens as Raoul. The show covers interviews with the actors, sharing personal experiences on and off stage; technical information about costumes, sets, and the chandelier; and four full length production numbers. Staged production numbers include Masquerade, All I Ask of You, Prima Donna, and Music of the Night. It was videotaped off the TV. Therefore it is clearly not a commercial item, and of course has the "chops" where the adverts were edited out. Not that you can really tell except for the logo reappearing to let you know the show is starting again. DVD (A/A+) | | 11:10a |
